The thick, milky substance worker bees produce and feed the queen bee is called royal jelly. It is the only source of food and nutrition for the queen bee and it helps in her everyday vitality. To produce royal bee jelly, the worker bees mix bee pollen, honey, and enzymes within the glands in the throat to produce this royal jelly. People have used royal jelly traditionally for its health promoting properties– it’s also rich in proteins and contains vitamins, fats, and amino acids.
